Posted by fodmrc on 01/04/2014

eggyweggersAt an EGM at the clubrooms last night [31 March, 2014], some changes were made to the constitution. These centred around sychronsing the financial year, subscriptions and the Annual General meeting.

The changes will mean that the AGM will be held on the last Monday of October each year, accounts will be presented based on a financial year of 1st October to 30th September inclusive. Subscriptions will be due before 30 September.

This will mean that accounts presented at the AGM will be as up-to-date as possible for members to peruse and for the committee to set budgets etc.

Committee Meeting Schedule 2014

Posted by fodmrc on 18/03/2014

It was agreed at the meeting held on Tuesday 3rd December 2013 that six meetings a year was about the right number, and that members felt that Tuesday was the preferred date.  Thus, the dates for 2014 are:-
Mid February:     Tuesday 11th February;
Early April:     Tuesday 8th April;
Late May:     Tuesday 27th May;
Mid July:     Tuesday 15th July;
Early September:     Tuesday 2nd September;
Late November:     Tuesday 25th November.

It was also agreed that meetings would only be postponed or re-arranged if two or more members were unavailable on the proposed date.
As this year, the Annual General Meeting will probably be on the last Monday in October, 27th October 2014.

Club Diarama Competition

Posted by fodmrc on 21/01/2014

railway-underpass1The model railway club have decided to run an internal competition within its membership.

The competition is to build a diorama scene of any railway associated activity.

The only constraints are:-

  • In N Gauge (2mm) scale it cannot be larger than 144 square inches
  • In OO Gauge (4mm) scale cannot be larger than 288 square inches
  • In O Gauge (7mm) scale it cannot be larger than 576 square inches.

In any of these scales the diorama can be smaller than the maximum size, and it must not overhang the base footprint of the model.

The completed dioramas are to be displayed at the Baptist Church in Coleford on Easter Monday, the day of the Transport Rally.

The dioramas will be judged for their finish, standard of modelling and general appeal, with a modest prize in each category for the winner, and an overall prize for the one judged to be best overall.

There is no entry fee for the competition, but if a diorama is going to be submitted you must inform the committee secretary by the 1st April that you will be bringing an entry.
